47 Degrees is grateful to work with Financial Aid Sponsors like Stripe, and supportive groups like ScalaBridge, Women Who Code, and Google’s Women Techmakers to offer grants for underrepresented individuals in tech to attend Lambda World Seattle or Lambda World Cádiz!
Lambda World is a non-profit, two-day functional programming conference held in Seattle, WA in September, and Cádiz, Spain in October and features workshops, presentations, and community events celebrating languages like Scala, Kotlin, F#, Java, Clojure, Haskell, and more.
We pride ourselves in offering a fun environment for learning, networking, and growing the FP community. The information about the grants for each event is listed below. Individuals can apply for the grants and winners will be selected at random.
LAMBDA WORLD SEATTLE
Grants courtesy of Stripe, the best software platform for running an internet business. Stripe is on the forefront of building an inclusive environment in the tech community and are providing five tickets for attending Lambda World for those who are underrepresented in tech.
Each grant features:
- Full access to all conference sessions and workshops
- Entrance to the Community Party

LAMBDA WORLD CÁDIZ
Grants are courtesy of a variety of donors and companies including community donations by Richard Gibson, Christian López Espínola, Stefano Paluello, Erik Janssen, Alex Allmont, Jo Liss, and Jorge Galindo.
Each grant features:
- Full access to all conference sessions and workshops
- Entrance to the Community Party
- A two-night stay at a hotel of organizer’s choice (to be announced soon).
Transportation not included in this offer.

Grants specifically for students at the University of Cádiz do not include lodging. But uses the same form as the Underrepresented Grants listed above.
In additon, if you are a freelancer or work for a business in Cádiz, you can apply to attend Lambda World Seattle and have 70% of your travel expenses plus the cost of the event ticket reimbursed here: Lambda World Seattle for Cádiz businesses
