Seattle Data Engineering
Join us for the Seattle Data Engineering meetup at the Pioneer Square Galvanize!
John Nestor, a 47 Degrees Senior Software Architect and Trainer, along with Jerry Kuch, will present: Functional Scala. The talk will introduce the audience to the Scala programming language via interactive demonstrations and experiments in the Scala REPL and develop experience with some of the features that make Scala a convenient and pragmatic environment for data science and engineering.
After motivating the use of Scala in these contexts, John and Jerry will explore benefits of the functional programming style and strong typing that aid one in quickly writing correct code and building robust systems. Along the way, they’ll cover core features of Scala and its standard library including case classes, pattern matching, higher order functions, and collections and their operations.
The event will take place from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Register for this free talk here: Functional Scala at Galvanize
