Scala eXchange 2018

Join us Decemeber 13th - 14th for the 2018 Scala eXchange in London! Learn from industry leaders, share Scala knowledge, and network over two days of functional programming talks.

The event features keynotes from Martin Ordesky, Dr. Eugenia Cheng, Jessica Rose, and Rob Norris, as well as presentations from some of the world’s leading Scala professionals.

Diego Alonso, a Senior Software Engineer at 47 Degrees, will be presenting Functional Reactive Programming with FS2 on Thursday, December 13th at 15:45:

He explains, “Functional Reactive Programming is a way of writing programs, originally introduced in a paper for computer animations. The key abstraction in FRP is that of time-dependent functions with a given result type. Fs2 is a Scala library for functional streams, which allows you to handle resources, inputs, or mutable data by abstracting the whole timeline of the resource as a value.

During this talk, you will discover how far an FRP style of programming is possible in Scala, using such libraries as cats and FS2. We will also explore how the abstractions of FRP can shed a different light on the common use cases for the streaming library in fs2.”

Other members from the 47 Degrees team will be in attendance and available for discussion and answering questions related to Scala and associated technologies. If you see them, stop and say hi!
